The Spartans start off 2018 as they have eight out of the last nine years; at home. They take on the Utah State Aggies who finished 6-7 last season, placing fourth in the Mountain Division of the MWC. The Aggies enter 2018 very similar to the Spartans, returning 16 starters, including all five offensive linemen. Utah State also starts off 2018 with a now-experienced quarterback, Jordan Love, who started the final six games of 2017 and sealed his starting position during the offseason.

The Aggies may make some noise this season in the MWC, but don’t expect them to handout any week one upsets to the Spartans. Brian Lewerke starts Junior year off with a bang, tossing three touchdowns and running for another. The Spartan defense sends a message to the rest of the nation by forcing three turnovers and keeping the Aggies out of the endzone the entire game. Michigan State starts off its season with an easy win!

Final: Michigan State 41, Utah State 12. Record: 1-0
