After losing their second game in a row, Michigan State heads home to take on their hated rival, the Michigan Wolverines. Coach Jim Harbaugh enters his fourth season as the Wolverines’ head coach with high expectations on both sides of the ball.

One of the more intriguing offseason stories of this offseason was that of quarterback Shea Patterson transferring from Ole Miss to Michigan and being approved to play immediately. With Patterson, the Michigan offense should see a definite improvement in 2018 after finishing 96th in total offense a year ago.

Coming off two straight losses, and chances at the Big Ten title almost diminished, the Spartans start off their game against Michigan strong, scoring on their first drive and forcing the Wolverines to go three-and-out on their first two possessions. Brian Lewerke keeps makes his case for the Davey O’Brien Award by scoring a combined four touchdowns and accumulating over 300 total yards. Thanks to Lewerke and the Spartan defense, Michigan State gets back in the win column.

Final: Michigan State 38, Michigan 27. Record: 5-2 (2-2)
