Penn State Football: 5 reasons PSU will be better than Ohio State in 2018
3. Penn State has a better offensive line
Penn State’s offensive line suffered the most from the sanctions after the Sandusky scandal. The line has lacked depth and just struggled over the past few seasons.
The line brings back a lot of experience from last season and also has much more depth. Lineman generally cannot come in and start right away, so bringing in elite recruits and allowing them to develop has been a process for Penn State.
For example, Michal Menet was a five-star recruit and the top player in Pennsylvania in 2016 according to 247sports. He redshirted his first season and saw limited playing time last year on offense and special teams. Now, he is going to be the starting center for the Nittany Lions.
Ohio State lost their starting left tackle and center from last season. Left tackle Jamarco Jones started two seasons and was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Center Billy Price was selected in the first round with the 21st pick in the NFL Draft.
The Buckeyes have good depth on their offensive line and have experienced players to replace Jones and Price, but Penn State has the advantage this season.
