Penn State Football: 5 reasons PSU will be better than Ohio State in 2018
1. Penn State plays at home against Ohio State
Penn State and Ohio State are the favorites again in the Big Ten East, but Michigan and Michigan State will be in contention as well to play in the Big Ten Championship. On Sep. 29 Ohio State will travel to State College to play a whiteout game that will likely determine who will and will not make the College Football Playoff.
Home-field advantage cannot be understated in college football, especially with the atmospheres created at Ohio State and Penn State. The fan noise can have a huge impact on the game.
Also, Ohio State won last year at home against Penn State, and Penn State won two years ago at home against Ohio State. That is a small sample size and does not always hold true, but that trend does show the impact of home-field advantage.
Penn State should beat Ohio State for these reasons among others in their matchup in September. Since that game is earlier in the season, either team could still recover from a loss and make the College Football Playoff.
Whether Penn State or Ohio State wins, one of these teams should be playing in the College Football Playoff. Both of these teams may struggle to slow down Alabama or Georgia once they get there, but making the College Football Playoff should be the goal for both of these teams.
