3. Oklahoma has dominated the series

Oklahoma has been a perennial contender for the College Football Playoff since the postseason’s inception. The Big 12 conference features many high-octane offenses and the Sooners have shined among the rest even in that light.

Historically, the matchup is far slanted towards the Oklahoma side. The Sooners hold an 87-18-7 record against the Cowboys on the gridiron since the first game between the two teams was played way back in 1904.

The last time Oklahoma was toppled in Bedlam was in 2014 and even then, the Sooners were defeated by a field goal in overtime. Over the last ten years, Oklahoma has only lost to Oklahoma State twice and just twice more since the turn of the century.

For the past three seasons, Oklahoma won the game playing as a top-5 team and all but one of those matchups were decisive victories: except last year when the Sooners won in a shootout by a final score of 62-52.

The Sooners have a significant edge in the series which is a trend they should willing to protect in 2018.
