2. Young, hungry talent

This years Seminoles are very young, especially on defense. While there are unproven guys everywhere, there is a lot of talent with huge upsides.

It seemed last season Jimbo Fisher was mailing it in. Yes, it would be extremely tough for any team to weather the season after losing their starting quarterback in the first game. But it did not seem Fisher had his heart in it and it was confirmed once Texas A&M threw a bunch of money in his direction to come to College Station.

Despite Fisher’s lack of coaching, he was still recruiting pretty well and it was a fantastic job of Willie Taggart and his staff to stabilize the recruiting class and still finish with the 11th best class in the nation.

Between that class and the one ranked 6th in the country in 2017, this year’s team is bristling with unproven talent. They will have their opportunities to shine in Taggart’s system. The defense is where a lot of the youth lies. While experience is great, the young guys are looking to prove themselves. New defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett plays an aggressive style and the young guys are buying into what Barnett is selling.

If Florida State is going to have a resurgence, it will be led by the young guys stepping up quickly into major roles.
