2. Texas has better recruits than Oklahoma

Overall, Texas has been able to bring in better recruits despite less success on the field than Oklahoma over the past few seasons. According to 247sports, Oklahoma has only had a better recruiting class than Texas once since 2015.

The 2018 recruits for Texas were much better than Oklahoma’s recruits, including Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster. Oklahoma has some good top recruits, but Texas has a much deeper class with 17 four-star recruits according to 247sports.

The better recruiting classes in 2015 and 2016 also give Texas an advantage over Oklahoma, as those players are now upperclassmen and starting. Of course, Oklahoma has great recruits too, but they do not have quite the same quality of young talent working their way through the program as Texas has had over the past few years.

The Texas football program will always attract great players from a football state like Texas, so this advantage is something that will almost always give Texas more talent. It is just a matter of head coach Tom Herman using that talent effectively to get this program back to elite status.
