Mountain West Football: 3 Bold Predictions for Hawaii at Colorado State
3. Welcome Back, Mr. Ursua
In only six games last season, Hawaii’s John Ursua was on of the top receivers in all of college football. Before having a season-ending knee injury, Ursua led the nation receiving yards per game (130.6) and was second in receptions per game (9.2). This year, Ursua is on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award and looks to pick up where he left off in 2017.
And in this high scoring, pass-heavy game, Ursua hauls in 10 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Cole McDonald steps into the roll at starting quarterback and will look to establish a bond with his star receiver. While Ursua returns the favor by catching every ball he’s targeted with (that’s catchable). Ursua is one of the best at his position and a big game in his first game back is something that should be expected by many.
It’s all offense in this one, and for some, the lack of defense makes this game unwatchable. But football is football in this game is only a set up for what is going to be another amazing football season. Who knows, maybe we’ll see the Rams or Warriors in a New Year’s Six Bowl…okay, maybe that is a little too bold of a prediction.
