Texas A&M football will soon begin a new era under head coach Jimbo Fisher. Here’s how the Aggies’ depth chart projects entering the season.

Jimbo Fisher has taken over the Aggie program and is looking to turn it around for the better. So far, it would seem that he has begun to do just that. Players have moved around in terms of positions and have grown in ways unseen under Kevin Sumlin. However, the change in coaching staff has made creating a projected depth chart that much more difficult.

In preparation for the season, we will go through what the depth chart is shaping up to look like for week one. We will start with the most talked about position so far this offseason, quarterback.

Quarterback

Starter: Kellen Mond
Backup: Nick Starkel

After Tuesday’s practice, Fisher said that the quarterback battle is heated and could spill into the season. I, however, don’t believe that. I am convinced that Kellen Mond is the starter- at the very least from week one.

My reasoning comes from the tweet from Tyrel Dodson shown below. The video is captioned “Leaders.” Kellen Mond is seen in the front row of this shot. Nick Starkel is no where to be found. Am I reading too much into a single tweet? Maybe, but I am still convinced.

Both players have their upsides and downsides. The spring game on its own showed that Kellen Mond had developed far more than Starkel has. However, after fall camp, that could and probably is very different. I would go with Mond simply due to his mobility, but the answer won’t be official until Aug. 30.
