3. The Tigers defense will not allow more than 21 points in a single game

Clemson’s defense was very good last year as they gave up less than 14 points per game on their way to the college football playoff semifinals.

The defense of line returns all for starters including Clelin Ferrell who is an All-America and Lombardi award candidate.

They also bring in a number of studs on the defensive side of the football which include Xavier Thomas who many believed to be the number one overall recruit coming out of high school last year.

When you look at their secondary the Tigers post three cornerbacks who can legitimately attend for first-team All-conference nods. When you have that type of talent going up against the opposing team’s wide receivers it will be hard to give up big plays and surrender a lot of points.

There were only four instances where the Tigers gave up more than 21 points per game last year. I don’t expect them to have any games where they give up that much. This defense could be historic in terms of Tigers football greatness.
