1. It’s finally back and we love it

College football is finally back and let’s face it, we fans love our version of this whacky sport. The bands, cheerleaders, tailgates, dotting the i, Osceola’s spear, hail to the victors, the Coliseum, Touchdown Jesus and running through the smoke can’t be replicated by the stale NFL game or even by the passion of high school football.

College football is a special blend of pseudo academia, expensive diplomas, and brotherhood in the locker room.

From the moment Lee Corso puts on that first mascot head the college football season is upon us and we’ll all be better for it.

Whether it’s “Jump Around” or “Zombie Nation” blasting on the loud speakers as the student section slurs through the school fight song and the old head alumni grumble about kids today we’re all on campus and giving up a Saturday by the pool (unless you have wifi and an iPad) to sweat on bench seats for the school colors. Enjoy Sebastian the Ibis in a Darth Vader costume, Bevo not doing much at all, and Mike the Tiger chasing the laser pointer.

Fire up your podcasts (you can find mine here), crank the propane, set up your devices and screens in the living room, tell the kids to go play on I-95, and kiss your class ring because college football is back in season!
