Week 1: Michigan at Notre Dame

Honorable Mention:

  • Washington vs. Auburn
  • Miami vs. LSU
  • Northwestern at Purdue

It is official. College Gameday will kick off the official week one broadcast from South Bend, Indiana as the Michigan Wolverines and Notre Dame Fighting Irish renew their historical rivalry.

Both teams are coming off unexpected seasons as the Irish, who were not predicted to be much of a championship threat, ended up being one of the top teams in the country in 2017. On the flip side, the Wolverines finished with a mediocre eight-win season and failed to defeat a team over .500 on the year. Now, both teams have big plans in store for 2018 and each are getting the preseason hype they feel they deserve.

College Gameday has made an appearance a combined 55 times between these two schools, but the last time they were in South Bend was back in 2012, when the Irish defeated Stanford in an instant overtime classic.

Michigan owns the all time series 24-16, but Notre Dame won the last meeting between the two back in 2014. With new looks and faces all around each program, this matchup serves as the perfect introduction to the College Gameday and college football season.
