T Matt Womack and LB Terrell Lewis, Alabama

Once again, Alabama is the top team in the nation and will be tough to beat again in 2018. The reigning national champs have a strong chance of returning to the playoff again.

In Week 1, they will be without Womack, who was a starting tackle last season. He had surgery on his right foot and is expected to be out for six weeks.

Lewis tore his ACL and will miss the entire season. He was supposed to compete for a starting linebacker spot as a junior, but he will be on the sidelines for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is lucky to have a lot of depth at every position, but losing Lewis and Womack will hurt them this season. Lewis played in four games and had ten tackles and one sack.

Womack is a redshirt junior who played in nine games in 2016 and then was the starter at right tackle in 2017 and played a key role on an offensive line that was a  finalist for the Joe Moore award, which goes to the nation’s top offensive line unit. His experience will be missed, but Alabama does have a very strong offensive line and experienced backups.
