As part of the beer company’s “Keep it Interesante” ad campaign, Dos Equis has hired Steve Spurrier and Les Miles for new television spots.

Les Miles, the former coach of LSU, and Steve Spurrier, the former coach for Florida and South Carolina, have new career paths–pushing beer for Mexican beer company, Dos Equis. Not a bad career move–I wonder if they get free beer?

Dos Equis is the official beer sponsor of the College Football Playoff. They have introduced several new television ads featuring both Miles and Spurrier. The ads use the coaches’ famous quirks to humanize the spots.

Those of that are familiar with Steve Spurrier’s habits know that he always, always wore a friggin’ visor and that he often abused it to express his emotions. So it’s actually pretty clever that they featured it predominantly in the ad. In the Les Miles’ ad, the good folks at Dos Equis make reference to that coach’s habit of chewing on grass during games.

In the beer maker’s “Keep It Interesante” campaign, they encourage people to lie their butts off  embroider their stories a bit, claiming that it will make their night more “interesante”. These ads follow the same theme. I may not be Steve Spurrier’s biggest fan, but I have to admit the ads are great.

You can see both the spots below.

From Head Ball Coach to Head Beer Coach–I’d say that Spurrier moved up in the world. I bet these ads will get plenty of airtime, particularly here in the South where both coaches are beloved local heroes.

The ads actually come out on Thursday night, so you can say you saw them here first.
