1. Brandon Wimbush looks like a pocket passer

As previously mentioned, Brandon Wimbush played a one dimensional game for the majority of the 2017 season. It’s not like Wimbush’s passing flaws were a surprise, he was a dual-threat recruit after all. However, few expected it to be as obvious as it was. Despite dominating on the ground, Wimbush finished with only 1,870 passing yards and a sub 50 completion percentage.

Plenty of work has been put into Wimbush’s passing game since then, evident through Notre Dame’s Blue-Gold game that featured some nice throws from the senior. However, there’s a significant difference between a spring game and a home opener. Wimbush will have to carry his camp successes into the team’s Week 1 matchup against a respectable Wolverine defense.

What makes things even more difficult is that Michigan’s defense finished first in the nation in passing yards allowed per game in 2017. However, the Wolverines didn’t impress in the turnover category, finishing 85th in the nation in opponent turnovers per game. If Michigan continues that trend in this game, Wimbush may be able to establish the rhythm required to flourish as a passer.
