No. 1. Jordan Love will blossom into a star

Even though the outcome wasn’t what they’d worked for, the Utah State Aggies have a handful of bright spots, with their star quarterback being an obvious pillar for the program.

Jordan Love completed 29-of-44 passes on his way to 319 yards. He threw two interceptions but added a score on the ground while rushing for -1 yards. Even in defeat, Love commanded the offense like a fifth-year senior rather than the redshirt-sophomore that he is.

He entered the season with only six starts under his belt – the final six games of 2017 – but opening the season on the road against a Top-15 team is a bit different than coming in as a backup.

There were mistakes by Love, but his positives outweighed them and the Aggies have a long season ahead of them. He was in sync with what Aggie head coach Matt Wells wanted to do, controlling the tempo like a co-pilot on a road-trip controls the music. With New Mexico State up next for the Aggies, Love will look to build upon his successes from Friday night.
