  1. Arizona State will start at least two different quarterbacks over the month of September. Manny Wilkins, last year’s starter for Todd Graham, looks like he could possibly be relegated to backup duty behind Dillon Sterling-Cole. New head coach Herm Edwards is likely going to end up putting both quarterbacks on the field for the Sun Devils over the course of the month, trying in vain to find answers for early losses.
  2. The Sun Devils had one of the worst defenses in the country last season. That group will be even worse over the first five games of the season. Every opponent will score at least 25 points as Arizona State ends the month as the worst Power Five team in terms of yards and points allowed. Not even three home games will mitigate the impact of a young team learning a new scheme.
  3. Arizona State won’t own a single Power Five win on its record by the end of September. The season opener at home against UTSA will end up as the only win on the record for the Sun Devils once the calendar shifts. The Sun Devils are unlikely to get better immediately, and a veteran Michigan State team will start a losing streak for Arizona State that will stretch into October.
