UCF Football: 3 takeaways from Knights’ blowout win over UConn
2. David Pindell is a one-man show
There is no ‘i’ in ‘team’ but there is one in Pindell. As expected, David Pindell started under center for the UConn Huskies. The senior, who previously played at Lackawanna College, was the life of the Huskies’ offense. Pindell completed 27 of his 41 passing attempts, totaling for 266 yards. Additonally, he threw for one touchdown and one interception.
However, the bigger story for Pindell was his ability to get outside of the pocket and gain yards on the ground. David Pindell rushed for 157 yards on 22 carries, resulting in an average of 7.1 yards per carry. Were it not for Pindell’s agility and aggressiveness, the Huskies may never have gotten a first down.
Coach Randy Edsall will need to find a way to develop some sort of offensive production other than his star quarterback scrambling for a few yards here and there. However, having a quarterback like Pindell allows for some serious flexibility and creatively for the coaching staff in future games this season.
