5. Jake Browning has something to prove

Three-year starter and Washington quarterback Jake Browning enters the 2018 season with something to prove in his final season donning a Huskies’ uniform — and it’s not what you might expect.

The senior has the talent to be a top passer in the country but he has to prove that he can have a rebound season, and perhaps, prove the naysayers wrong.

He had an uncharacteristically down season last year after lighting up the stat sheet during Washington’s march to the College Football Playoff in the 2016 season.

In 2017, Browning threw for 2,719 yards and 19 touchdowns, compared to his sophomore season in 2016 when he threw for 3,430 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Even though his numbers dipped, he has the opportunity to turn things around this season. This year might present more of a challenge when taking into consideration Browning won’t have the explosive weapons he has had on his side in the past — such as John Ross and Dante Pettis.

What better way is there for Browning to stamp his name and welcome the new season with a signature win against Auburn? A victory could put him in the driver’s seat to regain his top form.
