The next-to-last Blitz Sticker from Week 1 goes to linebacker Te’von Coney. Coney led the Fighting Irish in tackles last season, and picked up right where he left off against Michigan on Saturday.

The senior recorded 10 total tackles — six solo and one tackle for loss — and two quarterback hurries. After racking up 116 total tackles a season ago, Coney is on pace to mirror those numbers in his last go around in South Bend.

It helps having two studs in front of Coney on the defensive line, but Coney still needs to fill the gaps and make plays, which he was more than capable of doing.

Michigan’s offense is closer to a high school junior varsity squad than a Division-I football team, but it’s still encouraging when a defense can dominate like the Fightin’ Irish did against the Wolverines.
