2. Safety D’Cota Dixon leads nation in interceptions

Senior safety D’Cota Dixon will have major responsibilities this year as he will be the veteran leader of a very young secondary, a secondary that lost two players from a year ago to the NFL.

Dixon has already been on the end of some big plays during his career, including a game-winning interception against LSU, a game-saving break up against Nebraska, and other big-time plays in crucial moments. Due to his experience, it is likely opposing offenses will scheme away from him and attack the weaker links in the Badgers’ defense.

This may very well be the case, but one of the biggest skills Dixon possesses is his field awareness and ball-hawking ability. With a talented front seven up front for the Badgers defense, and the lighter schedule to start the year, the defense should have enough to frustrate the quarterbacks in non-conference play and allow Dixon to adjust playing with new faces.

Dixon had four interceptions during his 2016 campaign, but just one last year in limited time due to injury. Expect Dixon to be very busy all throughout the year and his involvement should grant him a lot of opportunities to make plays.
