The Fighting Irish could win the Big Ten

As realignment talks seem to come up every season, we don’t have to look too far back to remember that Notre Dame was a candidate to move to the Big Ten before Rutgers and Maryland joined the party.

With so many Big Ten rivalries on their plate, it seemed inevitable (and I made it happen in my copy NCAA 14-), but the Fighting Irish decided to stick it out as an independent and still schedule their rivalries when they could.

Their performance in this game will have a few fans thinking that Notre Dame could come in and win the Big Ten over the powerhouses in the country. While they are a very talented team and might be able to jump into the top 10 after Miami’s crushing loss to LSU, there are still major questions on this team.

We saw how good the Michigan front seven did slowing down the running game, and while they have one of the best units in the country in the defensive line, Ohio State and Wisconsin also boast talented defenses too.

Going through an entire Big Ten slate might seem like trouble to the outsider looking in, but Notre Dame fans would expect it to be a walk in the park.
