Arizona State’s Ready for the Spartans

Michigan State was nearly upset at home, in Week 1, by the Utah State Aggies, winning 38-31. This week, the Spartans play an away game against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Last year, two of the three losses for Michigan State came in away games. On the other hand, Arizona State played much better at home last year, including a win against, then No 5. Washington.

A lot of buzz has been created for the Sun Devils since the hiring of Herm Edwards. In Week 1, the Sun Devils crushed UTSA 49-7. Sure, UTSA doesn’t qualify as a quality opponent; but, nor does Utah State.

ASU quarterback, Manny Wilkins, looked good in his season debut. Wilkins threw for three touchdowns and completed 16 of his 24 pass attempts. However, the Spartan’s defense was able to force two interceptions in their win last week.

This Big Ten vs Pac-12 matchup will set the tone for the rest of the season, for both ASU and MSU. A win for the Sun Devils will bring them into the top 25 ranking and be strong candidates to win the Pac-12 South. A Pac-12 win will also add to the credibility of Pac-12 teams throughout college football. Additionally, this outcome will significantly raise doubt for this years’ Michigan State team.
