Dawg’s Defense

Georgia shutout Austin Peay in Week 1. That was a statement they intended to make. That was the Bulldogs telling the rest of the country that they aren’t giving up points, or yards for that matter, to anybody. In Georgia’s final six regular season games last season, they averaged only 15 points scored against them. In the SEC Championship game, the Bulldogs gave up only seven points to a very good Auburn team.

With a defensive minded coach in Kirby Smart, the defense is prepared every week to an excessive level. South Carolina has a good offense, with an experienced quarterback. However, without a consistent run game, and an immaculate offensive line, there no way to keep the Bulldog’s defense from hounding the quarterback.

Gamecocks’ Only Chance

Because there is no possibility of the South Carolina offense running straight at Georgia, or expecting Jake Bentley to have time in the pocket, the offense will need to do something to get Georgia on their heels. It will have to be a handful of trick plays, misdirection, and play action passes by the Gamecocks to get any form of offensive production against the Bulldogs.
