Depth at Every Position

Let’s start with the quarterback position. Justin Fields is Jake Fromm’s backup…for the time being. At the vast majority of other schools, Justin Fields would be the starting quarterback. Last year, then Georgia quarterback, Jacob Eason was injured in their first game of the season. Fortunate for Georgia, Fromm was able to step in and play incredibly. The same is true for the Bulldogs this year should Fromm go down with an injury. Justin Fields, as a true freshman, could step in just as Jake Fromm did last year.

Legitimate Contributors

While depth at the quarterback position may be the most valuable in the short-term, having multiple players who can rush the edges and carry the ball throughout the game is what can really wear down another team. In Georgia’s Week 1 game, 11 different players recorded a reception, as well as 11 players recorded a carry.

This ability to play multiple players who can contribute only leads to more explosiveness and danger to the offense and defense, especially as the game goes on. Where the South Carolina starters will be more fatigued towards the end of the game, Georgia will continue to rotate players in with fresh legs, making it increasingly more difficult for the Gamecocks to gain and maintain momentum.
