1. The road is set for another Playoff appearance for Georgia

South Carolina was being talked up as a potential College Football Playoff dark horse entering the 2018 season. A strong defense and another year under Will Muschamp was supposed to be enough to propel Jake Bentley and Co. to a place no South Carolina team had ever dreamed about. That dream died on Saturday, but the Bulldogs’ Playoff hopes are as alive as they’ve ever been.

The Bulldogs have one remaining game circled on their regular season calendars, Nov. 10 against Auburn. The Tigers took down Georgia on the Plains last season, but they’ll have to hit the road to play the Bulldogs in 2018. That game is the biggest test remaining that stands between Georgia and a return trip to the College Football Playoff.

A road trip to LSU on Oct. 13 could prove challenging. Even if the Bulldogs drop a game along the way, they’ll enter Atlanta no worse than one win away from a trip to the Playoff. For Georgia fans, that’s an incredible thought to behold after finally breaking through a season ago after years of “almost” under the leadership of Mark Richt.
