2. Malcolm Perry was the Navy offense

It’s not very often when a player does what Malcolm Perry did today. Perry was the stat leader in passing, rushing, and receiving today which is an incredible feat for the junior quarterback. Perry only threw three passes today and couldn’t quite find the end zone but averaged 7.3 yards per attempt which is a really nice number for a triple option quarterback.

Perry’s 166 yards was the third most rushing yards he’s had in a game for the span of his career. The most he’s had in a game came against Southern Methodist last season when he ran for 282 yards and four touchdowns. The second most came in a loss to Army last season when he took off for 250 yards in the battle of the Triple Options but could only score once in the snowy matchup and ultimately failed to win the game for the second year consecutively.

Perry’s one reception resulted in a 17-yard gain from former starting quarterback Zach Abey. He is commonly used in goal-line situations this season as his size gives the Midshipmen an advantage over Perry’s small but elusive stature. Abey did score once on a three-yard punch in to put Navy ahead on their final drive. He had a far more productive game last week with four touchdowns against Hawaii in a goal-line role.
