With Week 2 now in the books for Notre Dame football, here are three takeaways from the Irish’s 24-16 victory over Ball State.

Notre Dame once again got off to a quick start, needing only five plays to put themselves up seven on the Cardinals. Similar to last week, the Irish scored their first touchdown on an Ian Book handoff to Jafar Armstrong. The Notre Dame defense appeared shaky on the first Cardinal drive, but straightened things out after limiting Riley Neal’s offense to a field goal.

Coming into the game as 34-point favorites, Notre Dame hoped to see some action from the team’s future athletes. The Irish were able to do this to an extent, mixing in some depth throughout the first half. However, the game would finish closer than anticipated, forcing the Irish to keep their starters in the game.

Overreactions should be avoided in a game against an opponent such as this, but it’s still important to take as much as possible away from a game, no matter how big or small. Here are three takeaways from Notre Dame’s latest win.
