1. Kyler Murray capable of stepping up big when Oklahoma needs it

There were always going to be question marks at quarterback for Oklahoma entering the season. That is always bound to happen when a conference champion and top-four team loses a Heisman-winning quarterback to the top pick in the NFL Draft. But just as Baker Mayfield blossomed after transferring to Norman, so to has their current quarterback.

Kyler Murray was originally a Kevin Sumlin recruit at Texas A&M, but a falling out in College Station sent him away from the SEC and toward the Big 12 powerhouse. Lincoln Riley was able to go from one talented quarterback with starting experience to another this year, and the experience showed on Saturday as things fell apart otherwise for the Oklahoma offense.

Murray put up a huge passing game for the Sooners, throwing for 306 yards, with three touchdowns and an interception, on 19-of-33 passing. He added another 69 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries to lead the Oklahoma offense in rushing as well.

The Sooners quarterback is rapidly blossoming into the best quarterback in the Big 12, as he has put up efficient stats in his first two starts of the post-Mayfield era in Norman. On a day when the rest of the offense struggled to get going, Murray picked them up and carried them to a statement win over a Pac-12 opponent.
