The WVU football program is rolling into their Week 3 game against the NC State Wolfpack, but what players stood out in their Week 2 performance?
The offense accounted for 625 yards and 52 points against Youngstown State, while the defense held the Penguins to under 300 total yards. A few plays saw the Penguins reel off big gains, but it wasn’t anything the ‘Eers couldn’t overcome.
West Virginia made it a point to get their running game going against Youngstown State, and it worked. Four players had at least five carries and the ‘Eers racked up 289 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Will Grier continued his Heisman campaign, completing 21-of-26 attempts for 332 yards and four touchdowns. He wasn’t connecting with his usual target, David Sills, though, who only managed two receptions for 33 yards. It was our first recipient of a Blitz Sticker that stood out in the Mountaineer passing game. Well, he’s one of them.
