Week 2 of the college football season looked like it would be a step down from week one. However, it lived up to the standard as a great week of football.

College football is a beautiful form of the sport that we all love. From the USC cheerleaders in their classic sweaters to Michigan’s winged helmets down south to Toomer’s Corner there’s excitement within every week of the season. Sometimes it’s a little deeper under the surface like with week two of the 2018 season. Many felt it was a down week when looking at the slate of games but that proved to be far from the truth after the dust and beer cans settled on another week of college football.

If the AAC wants to be considered a Power 5 they’re well on their way by cannibalizing each other like a good Big Ten or Big 12 schedule always seems to do to knock a team or two out of College Football Playoff contention. The ACC is still struggling to cement itself back as a top conference with Miami taking a while to get going against Savannah State (future D2 program) and the Willie Taggart era starting rather ugly.

Shea Patterson and Michigan bounced back after their putzing Week 1 loss to Notre Dame and in typical Brian Kelly fashion, the Irish looked unconvincing against Ball State. Although the brethren is small in football as a whole and college football more specifically- African American head football coaches had a pretty good week under the headsets in Tempe, Stanford, and Tampa.

Here are my five takeaways from week two of the college football season.
