2. Maybe losing Christian Kirk wasn’t all that bad

At the end of the 2017 season, Christian Kirk declaring for the NFL Draft was expected yet heartbreaking to so many Aggies. He had been the heart of the Aggie receiving corps — Josh Reynolds not withstanding — for three seasons.

However, against Clemson, the young Aggie receivers showed the world that Kirk wasn’t the only one who could catch a pass and make a big play with it.

Kendrick Rogers showed up and showed out, finishing with over 100 yards and two scores. Jhamon Ausbon was strong and consistent, finishing 61 yards. Camron Buckley had 93 yards. Quartney Davis had 39 yards and the first score of his career. All of these guys are sophomores and their biggest 2018 pickup in Jalen Preston didn’t even touch the field in this one.

To say that the future is bright for the Aggie receiving core is an understatement.

In my opinion, the Aggies have found their replacement for Christian Kirk and it has come in the form of four or five guys that Kellen Mond and the coaching staff can depend on to make the grab and the play when it is thrown their way. Keep your eye on this team. They are young, talented and scrappy. They could make some noise in the SEC this season.
