After their first game of the season was cancelled due to weather issues, we really didn’t know what to expect from Iowa State this past weekend as they faced off with their in-state rival, the Iowa Hawkeyes. What we got was pretty disappointing, and that may be putting it nicely. The Cyclones couldn’t get anything done on offense all day long, not even hitting the 200 yard mark and scoring just three points.

Their defense was pretty good, holding Iowa to 13 points, seven of which came on a very late touchdown, but it just wasn’t enough. The defense should still be awesome this year, but man, that offense just looked so bad. I’m very concerned about the Cyclones this week as they face Oklahoma.

Up one spot from last week, the Longhorns are in better shape than they were after the first week, but that’s really only because Iowa State and Kansas State both fell, and Texas had to go somewhere. Texas, for the record, has done absolutely nothing to deserve any kind of praise yet this year.

They looked bad against Tulsa, nearly losing to a pretty bad Group of Five team. Their offense struggled against a bad defense, and their extremely hyped defense put up a second straight bad performance. I have very real concerns about Texas making a bowl this year, and I would be shocked if they beat USC this weekend.
