It took a half, but TCU disposed of their rivals, SMU, this past Friday. In a torrential downpour, the TCU offense was less than impressive, but thanks to KaVontae Turpin and some awesome defense, they were able to survive a super messy game that was honestly pretty scary until the second half got started.

Like I said though, in such bad weather, a sloppy game is to be expected. This weekend will be a far better test, and if TCU can even keep the game against Ohio State close, I’ll be pretty impressed, and they’ll probably remain in the top three in the conference.

Don’t look now, but Oklahoma may be even better this season than they were last season. In the first two weeks of the season, the Sooners have demolished FAU, a team that seems to be pretty good, and UCLA, a team that probably won’t win three games this year. Competition lacking or not, the Sooners have looked extremely impressive so far.

I’m super interested to see what this offense, and specifically Kyler Murray, looks like against Iowa State this weekend. Iowa State’s defense looks very solid, and while their offense stinks, I don’t think Oklahoma’s defensive success thus far is sustainable. Could we be in for a repeat upset this weekend? Probably not.
