3. A.J. Dillon was responsible for nearly every Eagles touchdown

Dillon paced the Boston College offense by taking a hand-off on 75 percent of the team’s rushing attempts. He found the end zone once, scoring on a 45-yard run on the opening drive.

The Eagles hammered the ball on the ground and forced Wake Forest to commit more defenders to stop the run. This opened up opportunities all night for big plays off of play-action passes. Eagle wide receivers were left wide open as the Demon Deacons gravitated towards the backfield.

The Eagles connected on touchdown passes of 27, 29, 35, and 71 yards, all set up by Dillon’s efficient and powerful running. Wake Forest consistently needed several tacklers to bring down Dillon and several times it was only after he had gained several yards down the field.

So while Dillon only scored one touchdown, he was more than responsible for several others by opening up the Wake Forest defense.
