2. Kylin Hill approaches the 200-yard mark

Fitzgerald’s biggest ally in the backfield is sophomore tailback Kylin Hill. After a quiet start against SFA, he broke out in a big way against Kansas State. Touching the ball just 18 times, Hill racked up 227 total yards and scored three touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11 back still packs plenty of punch and isn’t afraid to run through the heart of the defense to pick up tough yards. Faced with an overmatched Sun Belt front seven, he’s going to have another massive afternoon.

Hill had a minor role in the offense last season. He only had three more carries than Thompson, the Bulldogs’ backup quarterback. That role figures to increase by leaps and bounds in 2018, and another 200-yard performance will make him hard for new head coach Joe Moorhead to ignore.

The Mississippi State defense is so dominant that they won’t need to put up points and yards in mass very often this season. Knowing that a player like Hill can consistently move the chains and make big plays should be the most encouraging takeaways from the Bulldogs’ Week 3 contest.
