5. Coach O says Geaux Tigers

Ed Orgeron is on the eternal hot seat per fans and the media down in Baton Rouge, La. However, the LSU head football coach routinely comes away with a big win to keep himself in the good graces of the LSU administration and this season has already seen two big victories for “Coach O”, as he’s affectionately known. The grizzled, rocky voiced Orgeron has now knocked off Miami and Auburn in three weeks of college football action in 2018.

Coach Orgeron has emerged 3-0 behind Dave Arranda’s unbelievable defensive performances and the steadiness of graduate transfer quarterback Joe Burrow. He  hasn’t looked elite but he’s been the passer that the Tigers have needed — mistake free. Burrow threw for 249 yards and a touchdown against the Auburn defense. With LSU only rushing for 2.9 yards per carry Burrow had to step up and did for the Tigers.

The defense also picked apart Jarrett Stidham, intercepting him two times and holding Auburn to only 3.4 yards per carry at the same time. LSU’s defense will be tested again as the Bayou Bengals face Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Alabama and Georgia during the regular season. Burrow will have to prove he can stand in the pocket and be even more efficient with the football against stellar defenses in UGA and the Tide.

So far in 2018, Coach O has proven he’s the right man to guide the LSU ship.
