1. Dorian Thompson-Robinson remains a work in progress at quarterback

Dorian Thompson-Robinson may very well develop into Chip Kelly’s next great quarterback. He won at Oregon with Dennis Dixon and Darron Thomas, and Thompson-Robinson is a better raw talent than either of those two players. But the true freshman from Las Vegas is also incredibly raw, as he showed against the Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Thompson-Robinson completed 10 of his 24 passing attempts for 151 yards, throwing one touchdown pass but two interceptions in the bargain. The freshman passer also contributed 49 yards on eight carries, including the longest run of the night for the Bruins on a 16-yard burst.

It was an interesting turnaround in both his passing and rushing results. The first two weeks of the year, Thompson-Robinson managed to complete at least 60 percent of his passes but was held to negative net yardage on the ground.

The young quarterback finally found some productivity with his legs just as he was melting under the pressure of the Fresno State defense in his third career college start. There are still a lot of games left for Thompson-Robinson to play in his career at UCLA, but he needs to find a way to put together all his skills in the same contest for the Bruins to start winning.
