5. Run defense is a glaring weakness

Entering this game Ohio State’s run defense was clearly a focus for opposing offenses. The Buckeyes were gashed in Week 1 by Oregon State and it would be crazy to think that Buckeyes fans weren’t worried about a TCU rushing attack averaging over 300 yards per game.

From the opening whistle, the Horned Frogs made a statement to the Ohio State defense that they were going to need to play at a high-tempo all game long. TCU looked like they were Oregon circa the Chip Kelly era when that offense would literally score in seconds.

Darius Anderson had an excellent game against the Ohio State front seven including a 93-yard touchdown run that was the longest play from scrimmage in school history.

For the game, Ohio State gave up over 200 yards on the ground with three touchdowns and a 5.6 yards per carry average. The Buckeyes cannot play that poorly against the run and expect to enter the College Football Playoff undefeated.

Tulane is next on the list and Buckeyes fan should expect the run defense to improve on those numbers.
