5. This defense could hang in with anyone. Could is the key word.

The Aggie defense is talented from top to bottom. No one is or can question that. Even with two linebackers out for the remainder of the season, this team still hasn’t seemed to miss that many beats. Players have moved around positions and have adapted in ways that Aggie fans haven’t seen in quite awhile. All that being said, while this defense has every piece in place to compete in the SEC- it isn’t a for sure thing.

The Aggies have almost become synonymous with underachieving. Will that change this season? Who knows at this point. Fixing that starts on the defensive side of the ball with players that are ready to play week in and week out.

Kingsley Keke has moved from defensive tackle to defensive end due to an injury to DE Michael Clemons. He has slimmed down and that has helped him quite a bit. Tyrel Dodson has been doing Tyrel Dodson things. Otaro Alaka and Landis Durham have grown even more than a season ago and as a result, both have had strong seasons so far, even if the statistics don’t show that as of yet. Donovan Wilson is finally having the senior year he deserved. I could go on and on about the talent on this team, but that isn’t the point.

The point is that this team will have to be consistent this season and that starts on defense. If the Aggies want to compete with the rest of the nation, this defense has to keep playing at the level that they are as of now.
