College Football 2018: 5 teams on upset alert in Week 4
By Shane Lunnen
Boston College is 3-0 and is coming off a big road victory at Wake Forest. They are also ranked for the first time since 2008 and will face Purdue this Saturday. The Eagles are favored by seven points.
Boston College has been prolific on offense thus far, outscoring opponents 158-69 through the first three games. It is the first time in program history they have scored more than 40 points in each of their first three games. They are tops in the ACC with scoring an average of 52.7 points per game.
On paper, it appears Boston College is going to blow a winless Purdue team out of the water. So why did we pick them to be on upset alert? Mainly because it would be extremely surprising to see Purdue lose a fourth straight home game. Purdue had a lot of promise under second-year coach Jeff Brohm and they still have a lot of talent.
The Boilermakers have done some good things but just cannot close the door in games. They have lost their first three by a combined eight points.
Boilermaker quarterback David Blough is starting to catch fire. He completed 71 percent of his passes for 572 yards and three scores in a losing effort against Missouri last week. Blough should now be the unquestioned starter.
Purdue will play desperate this week. Blough should give the Eagle secondary trouble and he will carry his team to their first win of the season.
