Iowa Football: 3 Bold Predictions against Wisconsin
3. Alex Hornibrook continues to struggle
Ask many Wisconsin fans what they wish they could change about their offense, it’s almost guaranteed there will be a number who will say “Bench Hornibrook” or “Fix Alex Hornibrook”. To those who have followed Wisconsin the past couple years, you know of the inconsistencies that Alex Hornibrook has had. It showed again in their loss to BYU, completing 18 of 28 passes, but for only 190 yards, no touchdowns and an interception with only an average of 6.78 yards per attempt.
Last season against Iowa, Hornibrook was tortured time and time again by the Hawkeyes’ superstar cornerback Josh Jackson, who had not one, but two pick-sixes of Hornibrook in the Badgers 38-17 win last season. Hornibrook had three picks in that game along with two touchdowns, but had a lot of help from his defense shutting down Iowa’s offense. There’s no question if the Badgers want to get back on track Hornibrook will have to play better.
Hornibrook will likely have a game against Iowa that will be a near duplicate of his performance last year against the Hawkeyes. Iowa’s defense has seemed to have addition by subtraction after getting rid of their star defensive players from last season and are now playing better as a unit. Hornibrook will have three interceptions against a stingy Iowa defense but will make some plays down the stretch as well.
