Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from dominant win over Tulane
2. The defense stepped up without Nick Bosa
When Nick Bosa went down in the second half against TCU, Buckeye nation took a collective gasp. Arguably the best defensive player in the country, Bosa’s impact has been felt in all of Ohio State’s game’s up to this point.
How would the defense fair without their leader? The first game against Tulane showed they are ready for the challenge. The defensive line stepped up and shut down the Green Wave offense.
Ohio State has had a hard time shutting down opposing rushing attacks, but Tulane didn’t average over 3.0 yards per carry, and this was arguably the best performance by the first-team defense this year.
The secondary also put in an A+ effort as they held Tulane starter Jonathan Banks to only 8-for-14 passing with just 141 yards through the air and zero touchdowns.
If Bosa is out for an extended period of time, Chase Young should be the focal point of the defense, as he has the speed to get around opposing offensive line and had a big impact on disrupting the offense in today’s game.
