2. Josh Jackson has been underwhelming

The Hokies haven’t exactly played heavyweights in their first three contests. He threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns against a Florida State team that has turned out to be rather laughable. He threw for 217 yards and one touchdown against William and Mary in Week 2. After the off week in Week 3, Jackson produced another clunker.

Virginia Tech fans breathed a sigh of relief when their quarterback was declared eligible for the season after some offseason drama. The thought at the time was Jackson might be the missing piece that could jumpstart this offense and take them to the next level, a trip to the ACC Championship game.

Not only does Jackson not look like a championship-caliber quarterback right now, he looks like it might be time to consider what backup Ryan Willis can do under center. It’s wasn’t quite time to pull the plug on a player that has won a lot of games for the Hokies’, but Virginia Tech might not have a choice. Jackson was carted off in the fourth quarter of this game and his status remains unclear.
