Week 4 of the 2018 college football season didn’t disappoint. Here are my five major takeaways from the wild weekend.
Week 4 of the 2018 college football season looked a little rough to find more than three or four major matchups but once again it was a thrilling weekend of games. There were multiple close call upsets including Oregon taking Stanford to overtime, and Army West Point taking Oklahoma into the extra period as well.
There were some major upsets that finished the job in week 4, too. Kentucky knocked off Mississippi State, Texas Tech dominated Oklahoma State, Old Dominion got the better of the Hokies, Texas beat TCU and Purdue stunned Boston College. Washington held of Herm Edward’s Arizona State Sun Devils proving that Herm knows what he’s doing and that there’s clearly no top dog in the Pac-12 right now.
The stars are always the most important part of college football and Tua Tagovialoa held onto his shine throwing four touchdowns in a near perfect game against Texas A&M. Will Grier threw five touchdowns as did OSU’s Dwayne Haskins. A few stars had disappointing nights like Justin Herbert, Bryce Love didn’t look exceptional, Kyler Murray looked good against Army even while the Sooners couldn’t put the Black Knights away easily, and Shawn Robinson from TCU threw two interceptions.
