Kansas, it’s so good to see you back in a place that you’re more comfortable with. I understand how scary change can be, and you obviously weren’t ready to make the lofty jump up to ninth last week, because here you are, back at 10th, one week later. Kansas had the chance to win their third straight game against an FBS team this weekend against Baylor, and instead lost by 19 in a game that was never even close.

They lost because they’re a bad team and because David Beaty is a bad coach. They’re probably not going to win any conference games, because small issues like “not being talented” or “not having a full 85 man roster” and that’s fine, because Kansas being good was a fleeting dream, too beautiful to last. We love you for you Jayhawks, even if you stink at football.

I know that it’s a tough road to go down when you start to doubt Bill Snyder, because more times than not he’s able to make some weird stuff happen, but I think I’m ready to say it. Kansas State isn’t any good this year. They haven’t been any good for several years now. I don’t think this is a bowl team, and I’d be shocked if they finish any higher than ninth in these rankings this season.

Bill Snyder, for all that he’s done for this program, simply can’t escape father time, no matter how much he’d like to. He’s 78 years old. He doesn’t have his fastball anymore, and while he hasn’t for a long time, that curveball that got him through the early 2010s just isn’t hitting anymore. He’s lost his touch, and it’s time for the Wildcats to move on, and not to his son Sean. Hire a fresh, young face. It’s time.
