Clemson Football: 5 transfer destinations for Kelly Bryant
By Dana Becker
2. Ole Miss
Matt Luke has done an incredible job with Ole Miss this year, as the Rebels play out a postseason ban behind senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu. Luke was even able to keep top prospect Matt Corral despite the ban, making it seem very likely that he is expected to secure the job when Ta’amu graduates.
But if we have learned anything this year in college football, it is that you cannot have too many good quarterbacks in the preseason.
Bryant would be an experienced signal caller to direct the Luke offense, much like Ta’amu has been this year. A junior college transfer himself, Ta’amu came flying on the scene as an injury replacement for Shea Patterson last year, throwing for 1,682 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven games.
This year, he’s hit on 80 of 125 for 1,359 yards with 10 touchdowns. And while Ta’amu hasn’t done much in terms of running with the football, he did show last year that ability with 165 net yards and four scores.
Bryant’s ability to create and throw the deep ball would fit in perfectly with what the Rebels are doing on offense, and with A.J. Brown likely bolting for the NFL, his experience would be vital in breaking in new wide receivers alongside D.J. Metcalf.
