Ian Book should have started Week 1

Book isn’t going to be the running the ball as effectively as Wimbush was, but he brings a whole new dimension to the passing game that will make the Notre Dame offense hard to stop going forward.

Book’s accuracy was on display all day long as he torched the cardinal defense for 278 yards passing and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball 15 times for 47 yards.

Those rushing yards aren’t eye-popping but it still shows that Coach Kelly and the Notre Dame staff want to keep defenses guessing on how the offense will move the ball from drive to drive.

Ian Book should be the main reason for The fighting Irish making the playoffs as it is safe to question why he wasn’t placed into the starting lineup sooner.

He is clearly a better passer then Wimbush and fits Brian Kelly’s offensive style better.

Can Book keep up his strong start over the next couple of weeks? That will be the main questions fans will ask heading into the middle of the season.
