Can Boykin’s become a consistent threat in the Notre Dame passing attack? In 5 weeks he has put up two excellent performances, and three duds.

Inconsistency has plagued Boykin for most of his career in a Fighting Irish uniform, as his 2017 season had similar highs and lows (one catch in a loss to Stanford was followed up with three catches and 120 yards in the bowl win over LSU).

In Week 2 against Ball State he grabbed six passes for 119 yards. It was a great game against an inferior opponent, so Boykin’s stat line over the weekend should have fans encouraged.

He dominated the Stanford secondary as he caught 11 passes for 144 yards and found the end zone for the first time this season. He didn’t do anything against Wake Forest last week with only a single catch for six yards, but I expect Boykin to become Books favorite target over the next few weeks.

Virginia Tech’s secondary has looked shaky all season long, and if the running game can play this good next week it may open up the deep ball for Boykin’s to make a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
