2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 5
There is little to no doubt the Colts are going to be taking a linebacker with their first pick in this year’s draft. The question is, which one they are going to take. The front-runners are Kentucky’s Josh Allen and LSU’s Devin White.
Let’s do a simple comparison of these two player’s individual performances from last year. Allen had 66 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. White, on the other hand, had 133 tackles. Yup, you read that right. 13.5 of those 133 tackles were for loss and totaled 4.5 sacks.
Where Allen stands out is his ability to force turnovers. Allen had one interception last year and forced two fumbles. The year prior, Allen forced four fumbles. Lastly, Allen brings the intangibles in his leadership. Most recently, Allen has led his team’s defense to a 5-0 record allowing an average of just under 13 points per game.
Ultimately, the Colts will likely select Devin White, but don’t be surprised if the Colts take a chance on Allen.
